Zwartsters Amersfoort

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The monastery Zwartzusters Amersfoort was the Zwartzusters of Amsterdam in Amersfoort founded.

In 1479 a house was bought near the city wall. After the community was recognized as a monastery about three years later, they built their own chapel in 1492, which was dedicated to St. Ursula. As early as 1547 they left their house, which now came to the nuns of Birken, and moved into "de Pot" or the Heilig-Geist-Hospital.

More is not known about the sisters, who were also called Alexians.
