Cytomegalovirus vaccine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A cytomegalovirus vaccine (synonymous CMV vaccine ) is a vaccine against the cytomegalovirus (CMV).

properties

So far (2015) there are no approved cytomegalovirus vaccines. Cytomegaloviruses belong to the TORCH complex ( toxoplasmosis , other, rubella , cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex virus-2 or herpes neonatorum ), which includes infectious diseases that can be vertically transmitted from mother to child. The experimental cytomegalovirus vaccines will be used to reduce vertical transmission from mother to child and to people with immunosuppression , for whom reactivation of cytomegalovirus can generally lead to complications. Cytomegalovirus vaccines are designed to protect against infection or reactivation .

The experimental approaches include recombinant proteins , attenuated cytomegaloviruses and DNA vaccines . The antigens investigated include the viral proteins gB and pp65 and the pentameric protein complex gH / gL-PC from gH , gL , UL128 , UL130 and UL131A .
