- October 12 : Emperor Mark Aurel and Lucius Verus celebrate the first triumphal procession in Rome for almost 50 years after the Parthian War . Marcus Aurelius elevates his two sons, the five-year-old Commodus and the four-year-old Annius Verus Caesar to Caesars .
- First Marcomanni War : Members of various barbaric peoples, including a number of Germanic tribes such as the Marcomanni and the Quadi , repeatedly advance into the Roman Danube provinces because they are ousted by the Goths .
Empire of China
- A delegation from the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius calls on the emperor of China .
- Eastern Han Dynasty : First partisan prohibition in China.

- Legionnaires who return from the war in the east against the Parthians drag the Antonine plague into the European parts of the empire.
