Roman Empire
- July 11th : With the Antonine constitutional reform ( Constitutio Antoniniana ), the Roman emperor Caracalla grants civil rights to every free citizen of the Roman state .
- Caracalla continues the persecution and execution of countless actual and supposed supporters of Geta , who he murdered the previous year . Expressions of mourning are considered a crime worthy of death, and Geta's mother Julia Domna is also not allowed to show mourning.
