Western Mediterranean
- Ebro Treaty between Rome and Carthage : The Ebro is defined as the limit of the respective sphere of interest, which must not be crossed by force of arms. It is unclear whether the city of Sagunto, located south of the Ebros, will also be included in the Carthaginian area of interest.
Eastern Mediterranean
- Sparta under Cleomenes III. conquered Arcadia , Argolis and Corinth . The Achaean League is defeated at Hekatombaion near Dyme. Fearing a Spartan hegemony in Greece , Ptolemy of Egypt stops the aid payments previously made for Cleomenes; Antigonus III. Doson of Macedonia intervenes in the conflict as an opponent of Sparta at the instigation of Aratos of Sikyon .
- The Colossus of Rhodes is destroyed in an earthquake . (According to other information 227 or 224 BC ) Rhodes receives extensive aid deliveries from Macedonia, Syracuse and Egypt for the reconstruction of the city. Even Caria is affected by the quake.
