- August 5th : In the Chinese Empire , Liu Xiu proclaims himself emperor at the urging of his followers. With the assumption of the throne as Han Guangwu di, he founded the eastern Han dynasty . In January 27 , he succeeds in ending the years-long uprising of the Red Eyebrows by his troops.
