↑ 2nd Bundesliga 2017/18 |
The 2017/18 season of the 3rd football league was the tenth season of the third-highest German division in men's football . It began on July 21, 2017 with the second division relegated Karlsruher SC against VfL Osnabrück (2: 2) and ended on May 12, 2018. From December 18, 2017 to January 18, 2018, the season was characterized by a winter break interrupted.
Already after the 35th matchday, SC Paderborn - saved from relegation in the previous season only because of the license withdrawal for 1860 Munich - and 1. FC Magdeburg, which finally won the championship, were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. Karlsruher SC was able to secure third place with one matchday before the end and thus participation in the promotion games to the 2nd Bundesliga , but failed there at FC Erzgebirge Aue. The three relegated teams were also known three game days before the end, namely Rot-Weiß Erfurt, Chemnitzer FC and Werder Bremen II.
