Events
Empire of Alexander the Great
- Spring: Polyperchon sends his son Alexander to Athens to take action against Nikanor , who is occupying Munychia . A little later, however , Kassander lands in Piraeus with 35 ships .
- Summer: Polyperchon wins the poleis of the Peloponnese for his cause, but fails in the siege of Megalopolis . His admiral Kleitos is defeated shortly afterwards in the Battle of Byzantion after initial successes by Antigonus and Nikanor. Antigonus then turns east to fight Eumenes in Syria . With this he leaves Cassander to rule over the Aegean Sea .
- Autumn: Cassander wins Athens , where he appoints Demetrios of Phaleron as governor. He also asserts himself in Macedonia and is appointed as regent for Philip III. Arrhidaios recognized. Cassander's rival, Polyperchon , flees, together with Roxane and Philip's five-year-old fellow-king Alexander IV , to Epirus , where he allies himself with Olympias .
- October: While Cassander is in the Peloponnese - Sparta erects city walls for the first time for defense - Olympias and Polyperchon attack Macedonia with the help of King Aiakides of Epirus from his kingdom; the Macedonian army runs over to them.
- December 25th: Olympias lets the insane king of Macedonia, Philip III. Poison Arrhidaeus who fell into their hands. Philip's wife Eurydice commits suicide.
Western Mediterranean
- With the help of a mercenary army (the Mamertines ), Agathocles wins rule in Syracuse in a coup .
- The Romans conquer the Apulian forum; in Lucania they advance to Nerulum.
