- General Flavius Theodosius is sent to the province of Africa by the Roman Emperor Valentinian I to put down the revolt of the Firmus . Firmus commits suicide after his military defeat. With the support of the proconsul Quintus Aurelius Symmachus, Flavius Theodosius then cracks down on the corrupt governor Romanus and the soldiers' indiscipline, which gives him numerous enemies.
