Events
- Heraclianus becomes a Roman consul and military leader in Africa. He rebels against Emperor Honorius and prevents the African grain deliveries for Italy, whereupon Honorius sets troops marching against him, which defeat him; Heraclianus is beheaded in Carthage on March 7th .
- The rebellion of the counter-emperor Jovinus is put down by the Visigoths under Athaulf on behalf of the emperor Honorius . Jovinus' general Sarus is killed in the battle, his brother and co-emperor Sebastianus is subsequently executed. Jovinus manages to escape, but is besieged in Valence , captured by Athaulf and taken to Narbonne , where Claudius Postumus Dardanus , the Praetorian prefect for Gaul, who is loyal to Honorius, has him executed. His head is sent to the imperial court in Ravenna .

- 413 or 420 : The Franks settling on the Lower Rhine expand their settlement area; it is divided into Salfranken and Rhine Franconia , with the Salfranken crossing the Rhine near Cologne .
