Emperor Tang Dezong
  • After the death of Emperor Tang Daizong , his son Li Shi ascended the Chinese throne of the Tang Dynasty under the name Tang Dezong . He makes the financial expert Yang Yan Chancellor of the Empire. In order to fill the state coffers, this abolishes all special taxes and levies and introduces the so-called double tax system, a property tax to be paid by all property owners, which requires a different quota of income depending on the district.
