history

The handball department was founded in 2000 and comes from the Aalborg HSH. They rose at the beginning of the 2000/01 season in the first Danish league, in which they reached 9th place. In the next two years they improved with places 6 and 4. In the 2003/04 season they took part in the EHF Cup for the first time and reached the quarter-finals there, where they were eliminated by THW Kiel . At the same time they were third in the league, which qualified them to participate in the EHF Cup. The following season they were only seventh in the league and were eliminated in the EHF Cup in the sixteenth finals against A1 Bregenz . The 2005/06 season wasn't much better either. By reaching the 7th place in the league, they were not qualified for European cups for the second time. The 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons were similar, which is why they again could not qualify for a European Cup. In the 2008/09 season they were first in the league, but did not make it in the play-offs to win the Danish championship. The most successful season was in 2009/10, when they became Danish champions for the first time and thus qualified for the EHF Champions League 2010/11 . They defeated KIF Kolding in a "best-of-three" system, of which they had to play all three games. In the 2010/11 season they were fifth in the league and third in the play-offs, which did not entitle them to participate in the final. As a result, they were not eligible for international games in the coming season. In the Champions League they were eliminated as the last in Group C in the group stage. The preliminary round of the 2012/13 season finished Aalborg in fourth place, which the team qualified for the championship round. Here the team moved into the final, where they were able to win the return match against KIF Kolding .
