Abtweiler is a municipality in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Nahe-Glan .

geography

The street village is located in the northern Palatinate mountains in a side valley of the Glan . The districts Hühnerhof and Sankt Antoniushof (also called Danteshof) are separated from the main town . To the east is Rehborn , south Raumbach , west Lauschied and north is Bad Sobernheim at the close .

history

Abtweiler is first mentioned in a document as "Apwilre in pago Nachgowe " on December 25th, 1128. At the beginning of the 14th century a chapel is said to have been built. Abtweiler still has a church from the 15th century.

From 1816 to 1866 it belonged to the Oberamt Meisenheim of the Landgraviate of Hessen-Homburg and with this it came to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1866 .
