The Norwegian Antarctic Expedition 1986–1987 (NorAE 1986–1987) was a research trip to the Antarctic funded by the Norwegian Polar Institute . The eleven-day venture to Peter I Island off the Eights coast of the west Antarctic Ellsworthland , led by geodesist and topographer Knut Svendsen , served biological , glaciological and cartographic studies as well as the creation of aerial photographs.
