Adolf Retty

Gottlob Adolph (Adolf) Herrmann Retty (born December 12, 1821 in Königsberg (Prussia) , † April 11, 1885 in Hamburg ) was a German teacher and actor.

Retty initially taught at a Königsberg high school and gave up his teaching job in favor of a three-year job as an actor at the local theater.

He is considered to be the founder of the Retty family of actors, which Romy Schneider also belonged to.

His son was the actor Rudolf Retty .
