Aegukka (also called Ach'imŭn pinnara ; in German: "Hymn to the love of the fatherland") is the national anthem of North Korea . North Korea had the same national anthem as South Korea (see Aegukga ) until 1947 , before adopting today's newly composed anthem. This was sung in both states to the melody of the famous Scottish folk song Auld Lang Syne , as the song, especially during the Japanese occupation, during which it was banned, expressed the Korean desire for independence.

* 3000 Korean (r) i ( 里 ) ≈ 1180 km; as the approximate distance between the Tumen knee in the far north of Korea and the south coast of Jejudo in the far south is a literary term for all of Korea .
