Albertus Antonius Hinsz
Albertus Antonius Hinsz (also: Albert Anthoni Hinsch; * 1704 in Hamburg ; † March 17, 1785 in Uithuizen , Netherlands) was an organ builder in the Netherlands who continued the tradition of Arp Schnitger .
Life
Albertus Antonius Hinsz possibly completed his apprenticeship with Joachim Richborn and / or with Franz Caspar Schnitger . In 1728 he settled in Groningen and married the widow Franz Caspar Schnitger on December 28, 1732 and also took over his workshop. Hinsz built numerous works in the provinces of Groningen and Friesland in the north German organ building tradition, which are still largely preserved. In terms of sound, they are distinguished by the third-octave mixtures, which give the Hinsz organs their characteristic “golden” sheen. From a visual point of view, the structure of the Propekt is based on the example of Arp Schnitger. He had a lifelong friendship with Jacob Wilhelm Lustig , who was also from Hamburg and was the organist at the Martinikerk in Groningen . Hinsz died during the construction work on the organ in Uithuizermeeden . His grave is in Groningen (Lutherse Kerk), where a plaque commemorates him today. After his death, his stepson Frans Casper Snitger Jr. took over . together with Heinrich Hermann Freytag his workshop, which continued the tradition of Arp Schnitger in the Netherlands until the 19th century. His journeymen were to continue his work and have a lasting impact on the northern Dutch organ culture in the next generation.
