Alexander Kröckel (born March 12, 1990 in Suhl ) is a German skeleton pilot .

Alexander Kröckel lives in Suhl and starts for the BSR Oberhof . In 2003, the police chief candidate began the sport of skeleton, since 2007 he has been a member of the German national team. At first Kröckel achieved mediocre results in the youth, about an eleventh place at the national championships of the juniors 2005 (held in December 2004) in Königssee . In 2006 he was 14th and 15th at his first national championships in Winterberg . In 2008 he finished tenth in the top ten for the first time in Altenberg and achieved the same placement in Winterberg in 2009 . Internationally, Kröckel started in the Skeleton European Cup in St. Moritz in 2008 and finished 12th there. For the near future, this competition series should become a sporting home. But only since the 2009/10 season has he been able to show significant results. At the beginning of the two races in Königssee he finished second behind Matthias Guggenberger and Christian Baude before winning both races in Altenberg, and thus his first international races. Kröckel was able to achieve a third victory in Igls , with which he also won the overall ranking of the European Cup. The next season he started in the America's Cup and won the first two races in Park City . He then rose to the Skeleton Intercontinental Cup, where he won his first race in Altenberg ahead of Alexander Gasznar and David Lingmann . He won a second race in Whistler , was second twice in the season at La Plagne and again third in Whistler. In the overall standings of the racing series, he came third behind Lingmann and Gasznar. In Park City he also won the title of Junior World Champion 2011. This title also meant the right to start the world championship in Königssee , in which he took an excellent eighth place.

In 2012 Kröckel became German champion and started the season in the Skeleton World Cup . In the second race of the season in Park City he only had to admit defeat to the outstanding Latvian Martins Dukurs and finished second. He achieved the same result in Altenberg . In the overall standings he came third behind the Dukurs brothers as the best German.
