He designed numerous public buildings in Bremen: from 1847 to 1851 the first surviving hospital building was built on St.-Jürgen-Straße at the confluence with Humboldtstraße. From 1856 to 1857 the Landherrnamt was built on Dechanatstraße (which has been preserved and is now St. Johannis School). Together with Johann Rippe, he planned and built the penal institution in Oslebshausen from 1871 to 1873 and, at the same time, the secondary school on Dechanatstrasse. Its late classicist construction is assigned to the round arch style .

In the course of urban and traffic planning for the suburbs (Ostertor, Steintor, Schwachhausen), he also planned the so-called Schröder-Ring ( Waller Ring , Utbremer Ring , Schwachhauser Ring , Kirchbachstraße) and Stader Straße , which was realized without a public park section as the The resulting Bürgerpark no longer allowed a realization.
