General

In addition to Gustav Knuth in the leading role of the veterinarian Dr. Karl Hofer played Tilly Lauenstein his wife Gerda. The two adult children Bärbel ( Sabine Sinjen ), who studies foreign languages, and Ulli ( Volker Lechtenbrink ), who is still going to school, also play a role in the series, as does the house factotum Lenchen ( Käte Jaenicke ), which deals with the Hofers' household and takes care of the many animals and always has an open ear for every family member. Each episode begins with a pan through the vet's well-attended waiting room and gives a glimpse of his animal patients. Heinz Oskar Wuttig's other series also always begin with a specific sequence that is characteristic of the respective series.

Heinz Oskar Wuttig wrote the script . It was Wuttig's first work for the then still young medium of television and his first television series. The stories about Dr. Hofer and his family became an overwhelming success, resulting in a long-term collaboration with television. In the 1960s and 1970s, Wuttig varied the success principle of All My Animals several times and wrote other family series that were located in the hotel environment ( Der Forellenhof , 1965), in the artist environment ( Salto Mortale , 1968) and on the Rhine ( MS Franziska , 1978). Heinz Oskar Wuttig also wrote the scripts for such well-known films as The Early Ripe (1957), On the Day When the Rain Came (1959) or The Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse (1960).

Director Otto Meyer was also responsible for directing numerous homeland films such as There Up, Where The Alps Glow (1956), Once More To See Home (1958) and the children's fairy tale Aufruhr im Schlaraffenland (1957) as well as for the episode 25 The telephone number from the TV crime series Das Kriminalmuseum from 1967.

Others

As part of Dieter Pröttel 's New Year's Eve program in 1963, "Jolanthe lets ask ...", Gustav Knuth had his last appearance as a veterinarian Dr. Hofer and examined a young elephant in his practice. Then he said goodbye to his audience. The series itself ended with episode 9 entitled Das Stille Fest . Sabine Sinjen didn't play in the last three episodes. In her role as daughter Bärbel she was only present through conversations or phone calls.

The series was released on DVD in 2007. Episode 7 is titled The Suspicion in the description of the DVD box , but on the DVD itself the episode is called The Termination , as it was in the television broadcast .

In 1964 Heinz Oskar Wuttig published the film dealership as a novel under the title All my animals in the Hestia publishing house, later as a paperback by Heyne.

The individual consequences

1. The gray one

Ulli, Dr. Hofer's son, finds a totally emaciated, feral dog at the edge of the forest and takes him home. Its owner ( Wolfried Lier ), who keeps other dogs in a kennel under miserable circumstances, then appears at Dr. Hofer and demands his animal back. After Ulli freed the other three dogs together with his girlfriend Ruth and his sister Bärbel, Dr. Hofer to bring about a solution that is satisfactory for everyone through the animal welfare association.

2. The picnic

Hofer's daughter Bärbel has to deal with her first lovesickness. Dr. During one of his visits to the surrounding area, Hofer came across a refugee family from the east and convinced the farmers to support the Ottmüller family. He himself brings the little daughter Traudel ( Hansi Jochmann ) of the emigrant family home with him over the weekend and everyone goes to the countryside for a picnic. However, it doesn't work out exactly as expected.

3. The visit

Gerda Hofer is pretty excited because a former college colleague of her and her husband has announced to visit. Dr. Kai Johannsen ( Richard Häussler ) had also advertised her at the time. Bärbel and Ulli are also excited about their mother's childhood love. Another non-registered guest is a young seal that Marion Kunert, a friend of the Hofers, brought back as a souvenir from her vacation on the North Sea . The animal needs Dr. Hofer's help and sleeps in the bathtub at home.

4. The vacation

Finally, for the first time in five years, the Hofers want to go on vacation together. Everything is organized, a practice replacement found in Miss Glaser ( Gisela Tantau ). Then, however, children of the Stader family accuse Hofer's dog, "the gray one", having bitten one of them. Mr. Stader ( Martin Rickelt ) appears worried at Dr. Hofer. There is a risk of rabies and “the gray one” has to be quarantined . The family council decided to go anyway, although the fate of your dog is uncertain. You start driving, but soon turn back because nobody is in the holiday mood. Hardly back home, the redeeming news arrives that the quarantine for "the gray" has been lifted. The dog, which had been poaching for a long time and also bit little Stader, was shot. Now the vacation can still take place with "the horror".

5. The accident

The Hofers receive a letter from the tax office with a substantial additional demand. Bärbel is to be accepted into the diplomatic service after completing her interpreter exam . The feast that is then planned for them always bursts and to make matters worse, Dr. Hofer also had an accident due to a cow that went wild, which temporarily tied him to the bed. The lively vet doesn't make life easy for his family from bed.

6. The party

Bärbel passed her interpreting exam with flying colors ; On this occasion, a garden party should be the crowning glory of your studies. As is usually the case with the Hofers, something comes up, a storm has brought a small traveling circus to the brink of ruin and of course it is the Hofers who are unselfishly committed to the circus family. Dr. Hofer speaks to the city at the appropriate office and can convince the city councilor Hellenschmidt ( Konrad Georg ) that help is needed. When there is a power failure in the household, Lenchen accompanies the electrician Walther ( Wolfgang Völz ) to the basement. He flirts violently with her. Mr. Waldvogel ( Karl-Georg Saebisch ) and his daughter Lissy ( Ulli Philipp ) from the circus of the same name are touched “that such people still exist” and return the favor at the party that still takes place.

7. The termination (the suspicion)

Dr. Hofer receives a call from the Dobbernheim stud that valuable horses are showing signs of poisoning. The stud manager ( Dieter Eppler ) expresses a suspicion against a new groom ( Kurt Weitkamp ). Gerda Hofer brought her daughter Bärbel to the train station. She takes up her first position at the Foreign Office in Bonn . When Gerda Hofer comes home, Lenchen, the house facts, pokes around and finally blurts out that she wanted to quit in order to marry the electrician Walther ( Wolfgang Völz ). A coincidence puts Ulli on the right track, what the poisoning of the horses is all about and then he also solves the problem with Lenchen's resignation. Walther, who kept asking Lenchen about money, is already married.

8. The blue letter

A “blue letter” arrives at Hofers from Ulli's high school. Gerda Hofer has a conversation with her son and makes it clear to him that he has to change his previous way of life and that learning is hot. Ulli is in love with the rich Sybille Katz (Naomi) and spends a lot of time with her, which he lacks on the other side. Mrs. Hofer wins Sybille as an ally. Dr. Hofer has his own opinion on how to treat Ulli and therefore has quite a marital argument. Gerda Hofer confronts her husband with a letter that she received from his father about 25 years ago. Sybille breaks up and Karl Hofer finds the right words to make Ulli reflect.

9. The Silent Festival

The Hofers talk about the fact that this year they will spend Christmas alone and in peace. Bärbel is in Stockholm and cannot come, Ulli has received a skiing holiday as a gift from his parents when he passed his Abitur and Lenchen intends to spend Christmas Eve with her new “future”. But everything turns out differently again. Ulli sprains her foot, Dr. Hofer is also needed at the Dobbernheim stud over the Christmas period, the Hofers' Christmas presents are stolen from the fur shop where there was a break-in, and then the heating goes out. And Lenchen ... she was unlucky again and stands crying in the door and then the Christmas tree catches fire. Silent night, holy night ...
