Allerød Kommune is a Danish municipality located in the Hovedstaden region between Birkerød Kommune and Rudersdal Kommune in the southeast and Hillerød Kommune in the northwest. 25,633 inhabitants live there on an area of 67.40 km² (as of January 1, 2020). The administrative seat and most important part of the municipality is the city of Lillerød . The area belonged to Harde Lynge-Frederiksborg Herred in the Frederiksborg office until 1970 , after which it became a municipality in this office, which today - unchanged by the local reform on January 1, 2007 - belongs to the Hovedstaden region.
After the region, the last warm phase before the end of the last Ice Age , which took place around 12,000 to 14,000 years ago, was named Allerød-Interstadial . Archaeological remains from this period, which was significant for the development of European settlements in the late Paleolithic (late Palaeolithic), were found there for the first time at the end of the 19th century .
