Alon Greenfeld ( Hebrew אלון גרינפלד,; * April 17, 1964 in New York ) is an Israeli chess player .

Greenfeld became International Master in 1983 and Grand Master in 1989 . He won the Israeli championship in 1984 and 2018 .

One of his greatest successes was the second place in the European Youth Championship U20 1981/1982 behind the Dane Curt Hansen . In 1993 he won the Pardubice tournament. In five Chess Olympiads from 1982 to 1994 Greenfeld was part of the Israeli team, and between 1988 and 2001 he took part in three European team championships . At the 2010 Chess Olympiad , he was the team captain of the Israeli team that won the bronze medal. His club is the Be'er Scheva Chess Club , with which he has participated in 25 European Club Cups since 1984 . Third place in the team ranking was his greatest success in 1998, in the individual ranking he achieved the best result in 2009 and the second best result on the fourth board in 2003. In Germany Greenfeld has been playing for the Lingen chess club in 1959 since the 2015/2016 season . Greenfeld is also the author of the opening book for the Junior chess program .
