American Jazz Hall of Fame

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The American Jazz Hall of Fame (AJHOF) is an American jazz award that was established in 1982 and was awarded annually until 2009 to honor people who had a special meaning in the history of jazz . The prize was awarded by the New Jersey Jazz Society and the Jazz Institute of Rutgers University (the most important US research institute for jazz history). Most of the time, the plaque was given to living jazz musicians when they performed in the New York area.
