history
In 1889 the district of Sylt was formed in the Tondern district from the eight communities Archsum , Keitum , List, Norddörfer , Morsum , Rantum , Tinnum and Westerland . The district thus included the entire island of Sylt . In 1905 Westerland became a town and thus left the district. The municipality of Norddörfer consisted of the three places Braderup, Kampen and Wenningstedt. In 1927 Kampen formed an independent municipality and the municipality of Norddörfer was renamed Wenningstedt.
In 1948 the district was dissolved. List became vacant and the remaining communities formed the office of Keitum. At the same time, Hörnum was formed from part of the municipality of Rantum. The office, whose administrative seat was in Keitum, was renamed in 1965 to Office Landscape Sylt.
On December 31, 1969, the municipalities of Archsum, Keitum, Morsum and Tinnum merged to form the full-time administered municipality of Sylt-Ost , which then ran the administrative business for the office. The administrative seat was still in Keitum.
In August 2002 the community of Wenningstedt changed its name to Wenningstedt-Braderup. On January 1, 2004, the municipality of List gave up its freedom of office and joined the office.
On January 1, 2009, the municipalities of Rantum and Sylt-Ost resigned from office and formed the new municipality of Sylt together with the former city of Westerland . Since then, the municipality of Sylt has managed the office's administrative business as part of an administrative community and the administrative headquarters are in Westerland.
