André Borschberg (2011)

André Borschberg (born December 13, 1952 in Zurich ; legal domicile there ) is a Swiss pilot and engineer.

André Borschberg graduated as a mechanical engineer from the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne and in management from MIT . As a militia pilot in the Swiss Air Force, Borschberg flew various combat aircraft. In 2010 he undertook the first flight of a solar airplane during a whole night with Solar Impulse , in whose development he was significantly involved . In 2011 he carried out the first international flight by plane on the route Payerne Military Airfield - Brussels-Zaventem Airport - Le Bourget Airport - Payerne.

In 2015 and 2016, he and Bertrand Piccard undertook the first circumnavigation of the world in a solar airplane.
