Andrea Martin
Andrea Louise Martin (born January 15, 1947 in Portland , Maine ) is an American actress and comedian of Armenian origin.
Life
Andrea Martin was born in Portland, Maine , in 1947 to Sybil A. (née Manoogian) and John Papazian Martin, the oldest of three children. Her grandparents were Armenian immigrants who fled Turkey to the United States in the early 1900s to escape the Armenian genocide .
She celebrated her first successes in the 1970s in Canada with the films Cannibal Girls and Black Christmas .
In 1992 Andrea Martin made her Broadway debut in the musical My Favorite Year , for which she received several prizes, including a Tony Award . Since then she has appeared in several musicals. She was also featured in an episode of the science fiction series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine . In addition, she also celebrated great success in Germany in the role of Aunt Voula in the independent film My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which was released in 2002 .
She has two sons (* 1981 and * 1983) with her ex-husband, the Canadian screenwriter Bob Dolman.
