Andrea Tirali
Andrea Tirali (* 1657 in Venice ; † June 28, 1737 in Monselice ) was an Italian engineer and architect who worked mainly in Venice and the Veneto . As an architect, influenced by the architecture of Andrea Palladio and Baldassare Longhena , he combines elements of baroque and classicism in his buildings.
Life
Tirali was trained as a stone sculptor and bricklayer. In 1688 the Venetian water administration ( Magistrato delle Acque ) hired him as Viceproto , in 1694 he became Proto (chief builder). The hydraulic engineering of Venice was one of his main tasks . In this role he led the renovation of the Ponte di Tre Archi in Cannaregio , one of the largest bridges in the city.
