Andreas Koziol

Andreas Koziol (born January 8, 1957 in Suhl ) is a German author , poet , translator and retoist .

Live and act

After high school and military service, Koziol studied theology in Naumburg and Berlin . Until 1990 he worked as a postman, gravedigger, stoker and private tutor. Together with Jan Faktor , Johannes Jansen , Uwe Kolbe , Frank-Wolf Matthies , Bert Papenfuß-Gorek , Stefan Döring and Ulrich Zieger, Koziol is one of the most important authors of the East Berlin literary and art scene in Prenzlauer Berg . Koziol says of his poetic concept: "At first it was about nothing less paradox than to free oneself from a totalitarian language with a linguistic totality."

Until 1990 he was co-editor of the underground magazines Ariadnefabrik (1986-1990, with Rainer Schedlinski ), the most important essayistic and theoretical mouthpiece of the non-state literary scene, and the use (1988-1990, with Egmont Hesse and Ulrich Zieger ), the 1990 Calwer Hermann -Hesse Prize . In the reasoning of the jury it says u. a .: “With use , the jury honored one of those self-published and self-produced magazines that were published independently of the official publishers of the GDR and against resistance from the authorities. [...] Use has made a particular contribution to the contemporary poetry and prose of the GDR and promoted the development of new literary forms of expression. "

In 1990 Koziol, along with Sascha Anderson , Henryk Gericke , Egmont Hesse , Klaus Michael , Rainer Schedlinski and Joerg Waehner, was one of the founders of the Berlin publishing house Druckhaus Galrev , on which he worked until 1992. Numerous translations and revisions from Russian, Hungarian and English. In 2005 he received the Eugen Viehof gift of honor from the German Schiller Foundation . He lives and works in Berlin.
