Andrei Vyacheslavovich Lomakin ( Russian Андрей Вячеславович Ломакин ; born April 3, 1964 in Voskressensk , Russian SFSR , † December 9, 2006 in Detroit , Michigan , USA ) was a Russian ice hockey player .

Career

The 61-time national player celebrated his greatest success at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary when he won the gold medal with the USSR team . In 1988 he was inducted into the Russian and Soviet Hockey Hall of Fame .

In the 1991 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the seventh round at a total of 138th position. At the Eisbären Berlin , the technically strong "miracle Russian" will not be forgotten. On November 10, 1995, he shot the Preussen Devils almost single-handedly when he contributed three goals and an assist to make it 3: 4 afterwards and made the decisive goal in extra time.

Andrei Lomakin died of cancer on December 9, 2006.
