Anna Stolz (born November 4, 1982 in Werneck ) is a German politician ( free voters ) and member of the Bavarian state parliament . Since November 12, 2018, she has been State Secretary in the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture and thus a member of the Bavarian State Government in the Söder II cabinet .

Career

After graduating from high school in Karlstadt, Anna Stolz studied law in Würzburg, Barcelona and Münster. She then worked as a lawyer at the Kassel Administrative Court and in a major Düsseldorf law firm. In the local elections on March 16, 2014 , Stolz applied for the mayor's office in the city of Arnstein as a joint candidate of the SPD, Free Voters, Free Werntalliste and Greens . She replaced the previous incumbent on May 1, 2014 with 60.91% of the votes, and she was also elected to the district council of the Main-Spessart district.

Stolz was non-party until January 2018, then was nominated as a direct candidate of the Free Voters for the Main-Spessart constituency and subsequently joined the party. In the state elections on October 14, 2018 , she was elected to the Bavarian state parliament for the free voters via the list of the constituency of Lower Franconia . On October 17, 2018, it was announced that Stolz will give up the office of mayor in favor of the state parliament mandate. On November 12, 2018, Prime Minister Markus Söder appointed Stolz as State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture.
