Anthony Aquino (born August 1, 1982 in Mississauga , Ontario ) is an Italian - Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Valpellice since September 2012 in the Italian A1 series . His brother Luciano is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

The 1.82 m tall striker began his career with the Merrimack College team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's league operations and with the Oshawa Generals in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League , before finishing 92nd in the third round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft the Dallas Stars was selected.

However, Aquino was never in the NHL roster of stars and only played a few games with the Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League . In 2004 he finally moved to Ritten Sport in the A1 series . After a one-year detour to Adler Mannheim in the 2005/06 DEL season , the Italian-Canadian finally returned to Italy, where he was on the ice for HC Pustertal in the 2006/07 season . In 2007 he moved to league rivals SG Pontebba . In the summer of 2009, the Aquino moved to HC Valpellice , where his contract was extended the following summer. In Valpellice he played in a team with his brother Luciano . In early July 2011 he received a contract with Grenoble Métropole Hockey 38 from the French Ligue Magnus . In summer 2012 he signed with HC Innsbruck in the EBEL , where he was released before the start of the season and then returned to HC Valpellice.

International

Aquino was part of the Italian national team for the qualifying games for the 2010 Winter Olympics . He scored one goal in three games, but Italy failed to qualify for the tournament.
