Working group of German forest owners associations
The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Waldbesitzerverband e. V. is an umbrella organization that represents the interests of private and corporate forest owners in Germany . 13 regional associations are organized in it. The AGDW is the most important interest group of the non-state forestry in Germany. It was founded in Stuttgart on April 6, 1948 and represents 66 percent of the non-state forest area with more than 1.3 million forest owners. Since November 2012 the association has been presenting itself with the new name AGDW - Die Waldeigentümer and a new look. The association is based in Berlin , where the office is also located.
According to its own presentation, the organization has the purpose of "promoting and increasing the efficiency of non-state forest management and representing it". It pursues this goal by "influencing the legislation, encouraging the promotion of forestry by the federal and state governments, promoting wood sales, training and informing members as well as public relations".
According to § 3 of the statutes, members can only be “associations of non-state forests” in the federal territory. The membership of individual forest owners is excluded.

At the head of the AGDW Presidium is the President. The following people have held this office since 1948:
