Arild Askestad (born June 27, 1987 ) is a Norwegian biathlon trainer and former biathlete .

Arild Askestad took part in his first Junior World Championships in Kontiolahti in 2005 and was ninth in the individual, eighth in the sprint and won the bronze medal in the pursuit race behind Bratli and Martin Eng . He also won the relay race with both of them. Askestad was even more successful in 2006 in Presque Isle , where he won the sprint and the pursuit, but in the relay race missed another medal in fourth place and did not start in the individual. In Martell he won the silver medal with the relay team with Magnus Hals, Henrik L'Abée-Lund and Eng, and reached 25th in the individual, 10th in the sprint and 21st in the pursuit, less good results than in the previous Junior World Championships. For the fourth and last time, the Norwegian took part in a Junior World Championship in Ruhpolding in 2008 . In the individual he came in 46th place, 29th in the sprint, and 12th in the pursuit race. With Magnus L'Abée-Lund , Dag Erik Kokkin and Anders Hennum, he again won the silver medal in the relay race.

Nationally, Askestad won the relay race at the Norwegian Championships in Stryn in 2008 with Magnus L'Abée-Lund, Stian Eckhoff and Halvard Hanevold representing the Oslo and Akershus region .

After his active career, Askestad became a biathlon coach. From the 2014/15 season he will be in charge of the Norwegian women's B national team.
