Artemisa is a municipality and a city in Cuba and the capital of the Artemisa province of the same name . Until 2010, the municipality was part of the dissolved province of La Habana . 82,873 people live in the municipality, 23,743 of them in rural areas, which corresponds to a degree of urbanization of 71.4 percent.

Artemisa is divided into 11 districts: Cañas, Capellanías, Cayajabos, Dolores Uno, Dolores Dos, Guanímar, Mojanga, Pijirigua, Puerta de la Güira, Rural, Urbano and Virtudes.

Artemisa belonged to the province of Pinar del Río until 1976 . Artemisa has been the capital of the newly formed province of Artemisa since January 1st, 2011 .
