The Bündner Tagblatt is a daily newspaper for Somedia in the canton of Graubünden .

history

The newspaper was founded in 1852 by the book printers Pargätzi & Felix in Chur as a daily newspaper for the Canton of Graubünden . The following year the paper was renamed the Bündner Tagblatt . The politically independent publication developed under the editor Christian Tester from 1857 to 1871 into a widespread newspaper.

With the change of ownership in 1870 and Tester's resignation in 1872, the political stance of the newspaper also changed. From then on, conservative politics were supported under the influence of leading conservative politicians such as Hermann von Sprecher , Plazidus Plattner , Theophil Sprecher von Bernegg and Friedrich Brügger . From 1921 the Bündner Tagblatt served as an organ of various conservative, expressly not only Catholic parties, from 1938 to 1960 with the subtitle organ of the Conservative People's Party of Graubünden (today's CVP).

In the 1970s, the paper ran into financial difficulties. The result was a short-term collaboration with the Free Rhaetian , Eastern Switzerland and the Rheintaler . In 1977, the declared Bündner Tagblatt for politically independent . In 1986, the majority of shares in the newspaper, which was threatened with closure, was taken over by the Zurich SVP - National Councilor and CEO of Ems-Chemie Holding Christoph Blocher .

In 1996 the Bündner Tagblatt was operationally integrated into Gasser Media AG, today's Südostschweiz Presse und Print AG, but remained editorially independent. The advertising part was taken over by the Graubünden regional edition of Südostschweiz , while the majority of the shares remained in the possession of Blocher. 2017 is the WEMF - certified support 7'346 (PY 7'603.) In January 2018 Somedia announced that it wanted to merge the editorial offices of Südostschweiz and Bündner Tagblatt . The plan was initially withdrawn in March 2018 after Magdalena Martullo-Blocher, representing the majority owner of the publishing rights, announced her opposition to the merger. The editorial offices should remain independent, but work more closely together from mid-April 2018. Shortly afterwards it was decided to merge into a central editorial office.
