The Bürgerablage is a bathing place in the Berlin district of Hakenfelde in the Spandau district . The bathing area on the Havel was already enjoying great popularity around the turn of the 20th century . For a long time it was located right next to the Berlin Wall , although the popularity of bathers has remained unclouded to this day. The bathing area on the border with Brandenburg can be reached from the land side via Niederneuendorfer Allee. In addition, the Havel cycle path , which is part of the Berlin – Copenhagen long-distance cycle route , runs past the beach.

There is a DLRG Berlin water rescue station at the bathing area . The station is located on the right side of the sandy beach directly on the water. The Jagdhaus restaurant is located directly above the beach at the Bürgerablage .

history

The mayor Fröhner noted the following in 1828:

"The citizens' depository in the Stadtforst on the Havel is evidence of which was previously used to ship large quantities of wood that was lost in the water, but has not been used for many years because large quantities of wood have not been dispatched to water is to be expected, is partly sown with 4½ wispel pine apples this year  . There should only be a long enough space for the cattle drift to the Havel, but the other part should also be sown in the coming years. "

The citizen filing was therefore used to store wood. Freshly felled tree stumps were stored here in abundance. The proceeds from the wood sold did not go to the combing department , but to the citizens' fund. After tree trunks were no longer transported by water, the citizen deposit lay fallow for some time . Then it was first partially and later completely sown with pine apples.

The citizens' depository was already a place to relax in earlier times. It is said that Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm, later Emperor Friedrich III. , and his wife Victoria frequented the Citizens' Pile for recreation.

Around 1940, the Bredden children's home was on the Bürgerablage . When this was closed is no longer known today.

After the construction of the wall , some wood was removed from the public deposit, which was then sent by train. Since 1970, the citizens' depository has only been used as a public recreation and swimming area. The end tracks of the Bötzowbahn have been preserved.
