B'Day Anthology Video Album The Beyoncé Experience Live
(2007)

B'Day Anthology Video Album is the first video album by the American R&B singer Beyoncé Knowles . The video album contains a total of thirteen music videos for every single song from their second music album B'Day (2006) and its deluxe release (2007). The album was released on April 3, 2007 by Knowles' record company Columbia Records along with the deluxe edition of B'Day and was available on Walmart markets. Later on, retailers were also able to sell the album. Knowles shot nine music videos specifically for the album and added the four music videos from the single releases. All of the music videos that were intended only for the album were only shot within two weeks. The B'Day Anthology Video Album became a hit in America and was awarded double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) . Outside of North America, the video album could be purchased together with the B'Day Deluxe Edition . The music video for Still in Love (Kissing You) brought Knowles a copyright infringement charge, which Knowles also used to promote the video album.

background

"The first thing I turned Greenlight and Upgrade U . Played in Kitty Kat . Then came Suga Mama . We shot Get Me Bodied , that's the dance recording. Did something for Beautiful Liar , that's the song with Shakira and me and my team knew what to do and what we wanted ... If I had another week, I would shoot three new music videos. I had so many ideas. "

- Beyoncé Knowles : Anthology Behind The Scenes

Knowles said she made the B'Day Anthology Video Album because she has always "wanted to make a video album" so that her fans would not have to log in to YouTube to see her music videos because they could see the videos on hers Watch DVD . Knowles already knew what the music videos should look like before working on this album. She planned her hairstyle, outfits, and makeup . Knowles wanted each music video to be different and describe something new, so she used different film techniques, fashion and styling. The B'Day Anthology Video Album contains thirteen music videos, with additional videos describing how the music video was made. The music videos for Déjà Vu , Ring the Alarm , Irreplaceable and Listen were ready before the album started. The other nine music videos were shot especially for the album over a period of two weeks. Only for the song Resentment is there no music video on the album. According to Vibe magazine, Knowles set the record for most video releases in a year with the thirteen music videos.

Publication and reception

The album was released on April 3, 2007 by Knowles' record company Columbia Records along with the deluxe edition of B'Day and was available in Walmart markets. From June 19, 2007, retailers could also sell the album. Irremplazable , a Spanish-language EP from Knowles, was included as a bonus CD on the video album in the United States . Even before they were released, copies of the music videos made it onto the Internet illegally as MP4 videos. Knowles promoted the album on American TV channels Today and The Early Show , while music channel VH1 Soul aired some music videos often. The B'Day Anthology Video Album debuted at number 24 on the American music DVD charts on April 28, 2007 and was later awarded double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) with over 200,000 units sold .

Dispute over authorship

Knowles covered the Des'ree title Kissing You for the Deluxe Edition of B'Day and renamed it Still in Love (Kissing You) . She made the music video for this song for her B'Day Anthology Video Album ; however, Knowles had no permission to publish the song in visual form. After the video album was released, Des'ree charged Knowles with copyright infringement. Knowles was able to avoid a lawsuit and had to pay $ 150,000 in damages, for which the indictment got media and press coverage, and Knowles used this attention to successfully promote the album. The music video for Still in Love (Kissing You) was removed from the album following the indictment, and albums that still contained this music video were recalled in April 2007.
