The Berlin Prenzlauer Allee station is a stop of the Berlin S-Bahn in the Berlin district of Prenzlauer Berg on the Berlin Ringbahn . It is named after Prenzlauer Allee , which runs almost at right angles to the tracks . The station is barrier-free .
history
The Prenzlauer Allee S-Bahn station was built on the Ringbahn in 1891/1892 . The facility has a platform for the circular railway trains and a clinker-style reception building . It was damaged in World War II , but unlike the reception buildings of the surrounding train stations, it was not demolished. Even after the renovation from 1992 to 1995, the complex still has a historical flair.
The type of pillars on the platform roof are now only very rarely found in Berlin, and they can only be found in the ring train stations. The historical impression of the end of the 19th century was preserved by preserving it during the renovation work on the station.
A second access is planned at the western end of the platform; a pedestrian walkway is to be built between Kanzowstrasse and Ahlbecker Strasse. The implementation is planned by 2019 [out of date] , the costs are estimated at 2.1 million euros.
traffic
Today (as of December 2017) the ring railway lines S41 and S42 as well as the lines S8 and S85 operate here. It also offers a transfer option to line M2 of the Berlin tram .
