The Bibliser Bahnhof is the train station of the southern Hessian community of Biblis . It is classified in station category 4. The station is on the Mannheim – Frankfurt am Main (“Riedbahn”) railway , which branches off to Worms here.

history

On May 29, 1869, the line from Darmstadt Hbf via Riedstadt-Goddelau and Biblis to Rosengarten station , which was on the opposite side of the Rhine from Worms , was opened by Reinhard Carl Friedrich von Dalwigk , Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . From 1870 to 1900, the Worms – Rosengarten route crossed the Rhine from the Rosengarten station . At that time there was no permanent bridge over the Rhine.

In October 1879 the line was extended via Waldhof to Mannheim's Neckarstadt, where it ended not in Mannheim's main train station, but in Riedbahnhof , north of today's Kurpfalzbrücke . Continuous trains have been running from Worms Hbf to Frankfurt Hbf since November 1879, and from Mannheim Hbf to Frankfurt Hbf since 1880 .

On July 7, 2016, the symbolic ground-breaking ceremony for the S-Bahn expansion of the station was celebrated, representing five stations that will be expanded as part of the second expansion stage of the Rhein-Neckar S-Bahn (in addition to Bürstadt , Bobstadt, Lampertheim and Groß Rohrheim). Among other things, the platforms were raised, elevators and seating were built and a new lighting and sound system was implemented. The costs totaling 24.2 million euros were borne by the federal government (11 million euros), the state of Hesse (5 million euros) as well as the association and the municipalities involved (8.2 million euros in total).

The interlocking of the Biblis train station is on the platform on track 1. The relay interlocking has a control panel of the type track plan push button interlocking 1960 from Siemens (SpDrS60). The Groß-Rohrheim train station is remotely controlled from this control panel and the signals from the Bürstadt and Bobstadt stops are remote-controlled on the Riedbahn. In addition, the branch of the Riedbahn to Worms is served. In addition, the Hofheim (Ried) train station has been remote-controlled since April 7, 2013, and was already shown on the partition when the partition was built in the 1980s. In this context, the route section from Worms to Bürstadt on the Nibelungen Railway is served by the dispatcher at Biblis station.

In the Bibliser interlocking there is also the route control center for the liner train control of the railway line from Mannheim to Frankfurt am Main, which is also operated by the dispatcher.

business

Regional train in Bibliser Bahnhof on the way to Worms

With 650 trains per day (as of 2007), the Riedbahn is one of the most heavily used German railway lines today. A further increase to 900 train journeys was expected by 2015.

In addition to regional trains of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) and the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar (VRN), three ICE lines, which connect southern Germany with Berlin , Hamburg and Cologne / Dortmund , run on the Riedbahn . However, only regional trains stop at Bibliser Bahnhof.

In Biblis station, regional express trains on the RE 70 line run between Mannheim Hbf and Frankfurt (Main) Hbf. The regional train on the RB 62 line provides the connection to Worms main station . These trains are connected to the Regional Express trains in the direction of Mannheim and Frankfurt. The regional train line RB 2 goes to Mannheim and on weekdays in the direction of Karlsruhe . In December 2020 (as of 2018) the (Groß-Rohrheim–) Biblis – Mannheim section will be operated as the new S 9 line of the RheinNeckar S-Bahn . The operator is still the DB Regio Mitte .

The series 446 (“Twindexx Vario”) is used on the RE 70 , the series 622 and 623 (“LINT”) on the RB 62 and the 425 series on the RB 2 .

When the Biblis nuclear power plant was still in operation, the Biblis station was used for the transport of Castor containers ( transport of nuclear waste ).

Planning

In the mid- 1980s it was planned to increase the speed limit for passing trains on the Riedbahn to 110 km / h. Eliminating the only drop in speed on the route was considered, but rejected because a prerequisite for this would have been the extensive bypassing of the location.

The upgrade for 110 km / h was not implemented (as of 2018). The permissible speed in the south end of the station ( route kilometers 26.9 to 27.7) is 90 km / h. There is an arch and two level crossings . In the platform area, 140 km / h are permitted on the continuous main tracks. In the north end of the station (km 28/29) it is 160 km / h.
