Railway stations in Hessen |
The Frankfurt Mainkur station is located at the Frankfurt-Hanau Railway between Frankfurt Ostbahnhof and the Hanau Central in Frankfurt district Fechenheim .
location
The station is located on the northern edge of the historic Fechenheim on the street An der Mainkur , where Hanauer Landstraße leads to a traffic island, which is developed as a roundabout and on which both the Mainkurstuben building and a stop for the Frankfurt tram are located. This ensemble is known as the “ Mainkur ”. This is where the northbound Vilbeler Landstrasse begins , which is crossed and interrupted by the railroad tracks immediately west of the station. An underpass, however, makes it possible to cross under the railway line on foot or by bike .
history
The station with the original station building was laid out when the Frankfurt-Hanau Railway was built in 1847. Until the end of the German War of 1866, which ended with the annexation of Kurhessen and the Free City of Frankfurt by Prussia , the station was the Kurhessischer Grenzbahnhof on the state border between the two states with customs clearance . The current station building and goods hall were built between 1913 and 1918.
Infrastructure
The Frankfurt-Mainkur station belongs to DB Station & Service AG and is part of their station management. The reception building has been closed for years. The counter hall is used by the restaurant L'Étoile for art exhibitions. Tickets are only available from RMV machines .
The station has three tracks on two platforms that are connected by an underpass. Regional trains and, less frequently, regional express trains on the RMV line 54 from Frankfurt Hbf via Frankfurt Süd and Frankfurt Ost to Hanau Hbf , Aschaffenburg Hbf , Würzburg Hbf and Bamberg Hbf stop in Frankfurt-Mainkur .
future
As part of the construction of the Nordmainische S-Bahn, it is planned to dismantle the Frankfurt-Mainkur station. It is to be replaced by the new Frankfurt-Fechenheim station to be built, which will be a little further to the west. However, the station will still be used during the renovation work.
Local transport
South of the train station is the Mainkur Bahnhof tram and bus stop on the Mainkur roundabout in the course of Hanauer Landstraße, north of the train station the bus stops Birsteiner Straße , Meerholzer Straße and Fuldaer Straße , accessible through the pedestrian underpass on Vilbeler Landstraße.
The Mainkur Bahnhof stop is served by tram line 11 and the buses of lines F-41, 44 ( traffiQ ), 551 and 560 (regional traffic). North of the railway tracks is the Birsteiner Straße bus stop , which is also served by the bus lines F-41, 44 and 551 as well as the SVM lines MKK-23, MKK-25 and MKK-28 .
The RMV tickets are valid on all lines as in the Mainkur railway station.
There are several parking spaces in front of and next to the reception building.
