location

Franco-German friendship bridge not far from Kleinblittersdorf train station

Kleinblittersdorf train station is located west of the center of Kleinblittersdorf. To the south of the station, Brückenstrasse crosses the railway line. Not far from the station, the friendship bridge between Kleinblittersdorf and Grosbliederstroff crosses the Saar , via which the residents of Grosbliederstroff in Lorraine have been able to use Kleinblittersdorf station on foot as access to the railway network since 1880 (with interruptions between 1939–1940 and 1944–1964).

history

By a law of the Prussian Ministry of March 9, 1867 and a state treaty between Prussia and France for the construction of a border crossing at Saargemünd on June 18, 1867, the construction of the Saarbrücken – Sarreguemines line , which leads through Kleinblittersdorf, was decided. The route was finished in 1869. Due to the lack of a connecting line from Saargemünd in the direction of Hagenau , the first locomotive did not pass the Prussian Bridge between the Kleinblittersdorf district of Hanweiler and Saargemünd until May 23, 1870 . On the same day, the stations along the route were also opened.

On September 11, 1981, the section from Brebach, where the overhead line had ended up to then , was electrified to the state border at Hanweiler-Bad Rilchingen , where the Kleinblittersdorf train station is also located. From September 1983 electrical operation was possible all the way to Saargemünd train station .

In 1997 the Saarbahn , a dual-system regional light rail system based on the Karlsruhe model , went into operation and the Saarbrücken – Sarreguemines line was integrated into the system. In this context, the Kleinblittersdorf station was rebuilt and a third track ( stump track ) was added so that Saarbahn trains can turn around here without affecting through traffic. The listed station building has been privately owned since then. The new platforms , which were raised to a uniform height for the Saarbahn trains, were relocated a few meters to the south and combined with a modern bus station . Track 1 functions as a combined platform . Earlier private sidings have now been removed.

When the timetable changed in December 2003, the DB removed Kleinblittersdorf station as the last tariff point on the 684 route book . Since then, no DB trains have stopped in Kleinblittersdorf.

traffic

From the Kleinblittersdorf train station, Saarbahn Line 1 runs every 15 minutes during the day (otherwise every 30 minutes) to the city center of Saarbrücken and beyond to Riegelsberg , Heusweiler and Lebach . Every 30 or 60 minutes, the Saarbahn runs in the opposite direction via the two Kleinblittersdorf districts of Auersmacher and Hanweiler to Sarreguemines station not far from the German-French border. The few remaining regional express trains of the SNCF from Saarbrücken to Strasbourg pass the Kleinblittersdorf station without stopping.
