The Undenheim-Köngernheim station was a separation station in Undenheim , where the Koengernheim – Nierstein line branched off from the Alzey – Bodenheim line. The station building from 1896 is a listed building .

history

The Undenheim-Köngernheim station had been the terminus of this section on the section from Bodenheim to Undenheim since operations began in 1879 . With the start of traffic on the section from Alzey to Undenheim in 1896, it became a through station . In 1897 the branch line from Undenheim-Köngernheim to Nierstein followed . In the early years, the station was manned by a station assistant and finally by a station master.

With the abandonment of passenger traffic on the route to Nierstein in 1951 and on the Alzey – Bodenheim route, the station lost its function on May 31, 1985 after the last departure of a passenger train to Alzey at 17:32. After the cessation of freight traffic on the Alzey − Bodenheim line in 1995, the track systems on the line were dismantled by 1998; the line to Nierstein had already been dismantled in 1960. The station building was sold and is now used as a residential building.

building

All reception buildings at the intermediate stations on the Alzey – Bodenheim route were built as a type construction according to the same design and differ mainly in the location of the goods shed , which was either built on or built separately. The station building in Undenheim-Köngerneim is a three late Wilhelminian brick building from 1896 with attached verbrettertem goods shed. An extension for the signal box was later added on the platform side of the ground floor of the main building .
