Railway line Hagen – Hamm
The Hagen – Hamm railway is a double-track , electrified main line in North Rhine-Westphalia that runs from Hagen via Schwerte , Holzwickede and Unna to Hamm .
history
The Hagen – Hamm railway was built by the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (BME) to create a link between its existing Elberfeld – Dortmund and Dortmund – Soest railway , as well as to the Hamm junction .
The section between Holzwickede and Unna was opened by the BME on July 9, 1855 as part of its Dortmund – Soest line. A good ten years later, on January 18, 1866, the section from Unna to Hamm was opened to passenger traffic, while the section from Hagen to Holzwickede followed a good year later on April 1, 1867.
Todays situation
The entire length of the railway line is served by the RE 7 “ Rhein-Münsterland-Express ” and RE 13 “ Maas-Wupper-Express ” regional express lines . The RE 17 “ Sauerland-Express ” also runs on the Hagen – Schwerte section and the regional train on the RB 59 “ Hellwegbahn ” line between Holzwickede and Unna .
Driving in long-distance traffic u. a. Intercity-Express and Intercity on the Cologne - Hamm route (and on to Berlin ) via this route.
The fares of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) and the Westphalian tariff apply .
