Bakir Izetbegović

Bakir Izetbegović (born June 28, 1956 in Sarajevo , SR Bosnia and Herzegovina ) is a Bosnian politician. He is president of the Democratic Action Party (SDA) and the son of former Bosnian President Alija Izetbegović . On October 3, 2010, he was elected as a Bosniak representative to the country's three-member state presidency and was a member until the 2018 elections .

Izetbegović graduated from the University of Sarajevo with a degree in architecture in 1981. From 1982 to 1992 he worked in a consulting firm. In 2000 he entered politics; In 2006 Izetbegović was elected to the Bosnian parliament for the first time. Since May 26, 2015 he has been party leader of the SDA.

Bakir Izetbegović is married and has one daughter.

Election to the State Presidium

In the election for the representatives of the three ethnic groups in the state presidium, Bakir Izetbegović reached on October 3, 2010 as one of nine candidates a share of the vote of 35%. His rival Fahrudin Radončić , who owns the daily Dnevni Avaz , won 31% of the vote, while the previous Bosniak representative Haris Silajdžić from the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina (SBiH) only came third with 25%. Due to the unusually high number of invalid votes, however, the election result is questioned; the electoral commission ordered a recount of the votes in question. Inauguration was with the constituent meeting of the State Presidium on November 10, 2010. In the presidium elections on October 12, 2014, Izetbegović was confirmed in his office with 32.8% of the votes.

Izetbegović took over the chairmanship of the State Presidium from March 10, 2012 to November 10, 2012, from March 10, 2014 to November 17, 2014, from March 17, 2016 to November 17, 2016 and from March 17, 2018 to probably November 17 2018.
