The short film is about a Canadian woman with Chinese roots who suffers from Empty Nest Syndrome but is given an unexpected second chance at motherhood when a baozi (dumpling) she made comes to life as a boy.

content

A Chinese-born elderly Canadian who lives in Toronto prepares baozis for herself and her husband . After her husband rushed to work, she eats her baozis for herself. When she is about to bite the last one, the latter suddenly cries out. She spits it out again; he develops the body, arms and legs. Without much mistake, she treats him like a mother and raises him. As if in a rapid run-through, the Baozi developed from a baby to a football-interested child and again to a defiant teenager. Finally the baozi comes home with his fiancee (a human woman) to fetch his belongings and move out. The mother manages to separate him from his fiancé before leaving the house; at the end of the heated argument, she takes the last resort, devours the baozi and, after realizing what she has done, collapses in tears.

Later she wakes up on her bed; her husband sends her real son into the bedroom, whose facial features roughly correspond to those of Baozi's. He is apparently supposed to apologize and therefore brings the same baked goods that he apparently ate regularly in his childhood with his mother. They eat it together and shed tears in the process. Later, together with the father of the family and the fiancee, who is the same as in the allegorical dream, they do dumplings, which the son does less well and the fiancee does very well.
