Barbara Richstein

Barbara Richstein (born September 24, 1965 in Sindelfingen ) is a German politician ( CDU ). She has been a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament since 1999 and has been Vice President there since 2019.

Life

After graduating from high school in Tel Aviv in 1983, Richstein studied law at the University of Bonn from 1984 to 1990 . After working in the real estate industry from 1991 to 1993, she completed her legal clerkship from 1993 to 1995. From 1995 to 1997 she was an executive officer of the Jewish Community in Berlin ; Barbara Richstein was admitted to the bar in 1997 . Richstein is Catholic and married.

Political party

Richstein has been a member of the CDU since 1997 and was elected for the first time in May 2003 as deputy chairwoman of the state association of the CDU Brandenburg .

MPs

Barbara Richstein has been a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament since September 1999 . In the state elections in 2004 , 2009 , 2014 and 2019, she prevailed against the candidates in the constituency of Havelland II and thus moved directly into the state parliament each time.

In August 2002, the former Brandenburg took CDU state leader Joerg Schoenbohm Richstein in the state government of Brandenburg. Until October 2004 she was Minister for Justice and European Affairs ( Platzeck I cabinet ).

In the 7th electoral term of the state parliament she was elected Vice President. Since December 2015, Richstein has been the spokesperson for Europe, Migration and Integration of the CDU parliamentary group in the Brandenburg state parliament.

Local politics

Richstein has lived in Falkensee since 1999 and was the chairwoman of the city council from 2014 to 2019. In the mayor's runoff election on October 11, 2015, Richstein lost to Heiko Müller (SPD), with a result of 7,560 to 7,971 votes.

Richstein is also a member of the Havelland district council, where she has been the district council chairman since 2019.

Public offices

Richstein has been President of the Brandenburg Athletics Association since 2018.

On September 25, 2019, Richstein was elected Vice President of the Brandenburg State Parliament and thus deputy to State Parliament President Ulrike Liedtke (SPD).
