The 1981/82 season is the 16th season of the Basketball Bundesliga . The top division in German men's club basketball, until 1990 limited to the territory of West Germany without the GDR , was played in a league with ten teams, followed by final and relegation rounds.
Season Notes
- The BSC Saturn Cologne were able to defend the championship title from the previous year, but missed the renewed double win the defeats in the cup finals against the new cup winner MTV Wolfenbüttel .
- After the Hamburg TB withdrew its team from the top division, of the three newcomers in the relegation round only the DTV Charlottenburg could hold the class. In addition to first division newcomer TV 1862 Langen , the then record champions USC Heidelberg also had to go straight back to the 2nd Bundesliga after being promoted again .
