Bavarian State Exhibition
The Bavarian State Exhibitions are held every year by the House of Bavarian History at different venues. They present topics from the history of Bavaria to a wide audience.

The “House of Bavarian History Working Group” was set up as early as 1972 and, from 1976, organized the first Bavarian state exhibitions under the direction of Hubert Glaser . According to its statute which since 1983 as authority of the State of Bavaria appointed House of Bavarian History active in all parts of Bavaria. State exhibitions took place in Amberg , Andechs , Augsburg , Aschau im Chiemgau , Bad Reichenhall , Bamberg , Benediktbeuern , Coburg , Füssen , Ingolstadt , Kempten (Allgäu) , Kronach , Kulmbach , Memmingen , Neuburg an der Donau , Nuremberg , Oberammergau , Passau , Regensburg , Rosenheim , Rothenburg ob der Tauber , Traunstein , Würzburg and Zwiesel .
The topics range from the "dawn of the industrial age" to Ludwig I , from the imperial cities in Franconia to the history and culture of the Jews in Bavaria , from the secularization of 1803/06 to the history of the farmers in Bavaria, from the passion plays to the Andechs family . Meranians , from Emperor Heinrich II to the history of salt, from the Reformation to the Coburgs in Bavaria and Europe, from the history of women to relations between Bavaria and Prussia, from Bavaria-Hungary to Bavaria-Bohemia to the Winter King , from history Pfalz-Neuburgs to the nobility in Bavaria. In 2009, the era of the 1950s, ie “ reconstruction and economic miracle ”, was thematized in 2010, the relationship between Bavaria and Italy, and in 2011 King Ludwig II was on the program. With 570,000 visitors, the 2011 exhibition at Herrenchiemsee was the most successful state exhibition to date in terms of visitor numbers.
In 2012, the second cross-border (Bavarian-Upper Austrian) state exhibition examined the relationships between the neighboring countries of Bavaria and Austria. In 2013 the theme was “ Main and Sea” ( Kunsthalle Schweinfurt ). The 2014 exhibition in Regensburg dealt with Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian . In 2015 the topic was “Napoleon and Bavaria”, then in 2016 “Beer and Bavaria”. The 700th birthday of Emperor Charles IV in 2016 was the occasion for the Free State of Bavaria and the Czech Republic to organize a joint Bavarian-Czech state exhibition with an international supporting program in Prague and Nuremberg in 2016/2017 . At the original locations in Coburg , the Bavarian State Exhibition 2017 showed a panorama of this time on the occasion of the Reformation anniversary with "Knights, Peasants, Lutherans".
The Bavarian State Exhibition 2018 in Ettal Abbey from May 3rd to November 4th was entitled "Forest, Mountains and King's Dream - Myth of Bavaria".
From September 27, 2019 to March 8, 2020, the Bavarian State Exhibition “100 Treasures from 1000 Years” will be on view in the Donausaal of the Museum of Bavarian History in Regensburg. From April 29th to November 8th, 2020 the Bavarian state exhibition "City liberated. Wittelsbach founder cities" will follow in the Wittelsbach Castle in Friedberg and in the FeuerHaus in Aichach.
