The Bayernliga is usually the highest division of a sport organized for the entire area of Bavaria , or the highest league of the corresponding Bavarian professional association.

ice Hockey

In ice hockey , the Bayernliga (Seniors) is the highest league of the Bavarian Ice Sports Association , the fourth highest division in Germany and the highest amateur division. It is equal to the regional leagues East, West, North and Southwest. There are also Bavarian leagues for juniors, youth and schoolchildren.

Soccer

In football , the Bayernliga has been the second highest league of the Bavarian Football Association and the fifth highest division in Germany since the Regionalliga Bayern was introduced in 2012 . It is also known as the Oberliga Bayern .

For women , the Bayernliga is the fourth highest division in Germany. The BFV also organizes Bavarian leagues for A, B and C juniors.

Handball

In handball , the Bayernliga is the fourth highest division for both women and men after the three national leagues. The men's Bayernliga plays with 14 teams in the 2008/09 season. The champions of the league are promoted to the Regionalliga Süd, the last four teams relegated to the national leagues.
