Beat Walti (born November 22, 1968 in Bauma ; legal resident in Dürrenäsch and Zollikon ) is a Swiss lawyer and politician ( FDP ).

After graduating from the Rämibühl literary high school , he studied law at the University of Zurich and the Université de Neuchâtel . He was admitted to the Zurich bar and did his doctorate with Peter Forstmoser . He became a partner at the Wenger & Vieli AG law firm in Zurich, specializing in commercial, corporate and competition law (including M&A).

In 1989 he became a member of the FDP . Between 1999 and 2013 he was a member of the Zurich Cantonal Council . From 2005 to 2008 he was parliamentary group president of the FDP. In 2008 he took over the presidency of the FDP Canton Zurich . He has been a National Councilor for the Canton of Zurich since 2014 . He belongs u. a. as Co-President of the Parliamentary Group Against Racism and Xenophobia. In 2015 he was elected Vice President of the Liberal FDP parliamentary group . In November 2017 he took over the parliamentary group presidency from Ignazio Cassis .

Walti is an artillery officer (first lieutenant retired). He is married and has two children.
